Costa Brava or Wild Coast
Which got its name from an article in a newspaper of 1908.
This beautiful coastline runs from the French border to Blanes, so across the whole province of Girona.
The most interesting places of Alt Emporda (northern region of Girona) are:
- El Port de la Selva with its majestic monastery: ‘Sant Pere de Rhode’.
- Cadaques and ‘Port Lligat’ where Salvador Dalí lived. His home has now been transformed into a museum.
- Roses with its beautiful promenade and sandy beaches.
- Sant Pere Pescador, a nice little place attracting many Kite Surfers.
- Escala and Sant Marti, where the famous Greek and Roman excavations of Empuries are on display.
